The story follows the ordinary Delgado family living in Seattle. During an unprecedented, relentless rainstorm, they wake up to discover that every window and door of their house has been flawlessly sealed shut by an impenetrable, supernatural water-based force field. Completely cut off from the outside world with no communication signals, the family is forced to learn extreme survival tactics over a span of years, innovating tools like "chimney fishing" to capture food.
